Have you ever stood in Taraweeh prayer, surrounded by the beautiful sounds of the Quran, yet felt a profound sense of disconnection? You hear the words, but you don’t understand them. You yearn for the emotional impact, the goosebumps, the tears that come from knowing what Allah (swt) is saying in that very moment.

This was the exact feeling that sparked the idea for Qhushu.

Our founder, Dr. Anjum Habib Sair, like many non-Arabic-speaking Muslims, felt this disconnect keenly. During the long prayers of Ramadan, he found his mind wandering, unable to maintain the humble submission—the Khushu—that is the very soul of Salah. The heart cannot be moved by what the mind does not understand.

From this deep-seated need, a simple question arose: “What if we could bridge this gap?”

What if there was a tool that could provide a real-time, instantaneous translation of the spoken Quranic Arabic, right in front of you? Not as a distraction, but as a guide. A tool that would allow you to follow the Imam’s recitation, word for word, and finally understand the warnings, the promises, and the profound beauty of the verses as they are being recited.

This was the spark. The idea was not to create just another app, but to create a companion for our most important act of worship. A tool designed with one purpose: to help every non-Arabic speaker “perfect their first standing” and move from ritual to a profound, spiritual conversation with their Lord. This is the story of Qhushu—an idea born from a personal need, for the benefit of the entire Ummah.
